Delta Air Lines was founded in 1924 as an aerial crop dusting operation. Since then they have grown into an international passenger airline, through route addition as well as through acquiring other airlines. Their headquarters is located near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport, a major hub of theirs.
Delta operates out of eight domestic hubs and three international hubs, including Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, John F. Kennedy Airport, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. They operate 4,932 flights per day globally.
Delta’s fleet consists of more than 700 aircraft. They utilize aircraft manufactured by Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. They own the largest fleet of Boeing 757, Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 aircraft in the United States.
Delta boasts the largest fleet of Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft in the world. The majority of domestic passengers can pay a fee to access the Wi-Fi in-flight. Audio and video entertainment is available in every aircraft via personal LCD displays. Complimentary meals are provided on long-haul flights. For short to medium-haul flights, small snacks are provided. Meals and alcoholic beverages may be purchased in-flight.
Domestic passengers can carry-on up to three pieces of luggage with no fee. A $25 fee will be charged for the first checked bag and $35 for the second. International travelers can carry-on two pieces of luggage and check one piece for free. The second piece of checked luggage will cost anywhere from $40-$80, depending on destination.
Delta’s cabins may consist of four classes: Business elite, first and business, economy comfort and economy. Business elite, first and business class passengers are seated in spacious reclining seats. They receive complimentary meals, beverages, alcoholic drinks, and an amenity kit. The economy comfort class provides more room than the economy class seating, as well as priority boarding and complimentary spirits.
