AirTran Airlines Overview:

AirTran Airways is a result of the merging of several airlines and a lot of hard work. The original AirTran Airways was a Boeing 737 operator with service to and from Orlando, Florida. Currently AirTran operates about 700 daily flights, mostly in the eastern and mid-western United States. Their main hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport where they operate nearly 200 daily departures. Other hubs are Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, General Mitchell International Airport (Milwaukee), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Orlando International Airport.

AirTran has adopted an employee recruitment process. They emphasize functional skills and relational competence. The airline has clear job specialization and an expectation of flexibility between jobs as required by daily operational circumstances. Now AirTran Airways uses state-of-the-art Boeing 717 and Boeing 737 jets. Customers can count on efficient coast-to-coast service on a brand new all-Boeing fleet. The company’s mission is to offer high quality Customer Service that is delivered with warmth and friendliness. Fortunately they have been ranked the number one low cost carrier in the Airline Quality Rating study for the last three years. Details about baggage, seating and inflight entertainment are below.

Baggage- All customers are restricted to one carry-on bag plus one small personal item. They limit carry-on dimensions to 24” long x 16” wide x 10” tall. All of the checked baggage fees are one-way per fare-paying customer. The first checked bag for coach class costs $25. A second checked bag costs $35 and excess baggage costs $75.

Seating- Coach and Business Class seating are available. Coach seating is no-frills, but Business Class seats are wider, have more leg room because they are 2-across and come with free alcoholic drinks.

Entertainment- All passengers can stay connected to the Internet and social networking on AirTran Airways operated flights because they have a partnership with Gogo Inflight Internet.

Travelers can search for flight availability on the website Home page or from the Reservations section of the site. The system will search the flight database for all available flights that match search criteria. The Departing Flights are listed first, and if it is a round-trip itinerary Returning Flights are listed next.
