AeroMexico was originally founded in 1934 as Aeronaves De Mexico. The airline’s inaugural flight took place on September 14th, 1934 between Mexico City and Acapulco. On October 1st, 1988 the company emerged from bankruptcy as AeroMexico.
AeroMexico’s current fleet consists of several Boeing 737, 767, 777 and several smaller aircraft for charter flights. They have also recently expanded their routes to include Shanghai, Rome and more destinations in the United States, Canada, South America and Central America.
Every aircraft that AeroMexico uses on all routes offer both business class and economy class. All flights provide a wide variety of In-Flight Entertainment. Their Boeing 777 aircraft offers personal LCD screens on every seat back and a wide variety of on-demand music and video games. Passengers can choose what programs to watch from ten different movies and three different television series. Business class passengers are offered a broader selection of In-Flight Entertainment options.
Baggage fees and allowances vary depending on the location of your destination. Domestic routes within Mexico allow Premier Class passengers to check two pieces of luggage with a total weight of 30 kg. Economy passengers flying on domestic routes are allowed to check one piece of luggage with a total weight of 25 kg.
Passengers traveling to the United States or Canada that hold Premier Class tickets are allowed to check two pieces of baggage weighing 32 kg each. Economy class passengers traveling to the U.S. or Canada are allowed to check one piece of luggage with a total weight of 23 kg.
Passengers heading to Europe, Asia or South America that hold Premier Class tickets are allowed to check three pieces of luggage weighing 23 kg each. Economy passengers are allowed to check two pieces of luggage weighing 23 kg each.
Baggage overage fees can be steep depending on the number of bags and the total weight. The baggage fees can run from $8 up to over $230 for international flights, and from $7 to $140 for domestic flights within Mexico.
